Overview of Services

The Rat Models and Genotyping Service Center offers live rat models and genotyping services to support genetic, physiological, and translational research. We maintain and provide access to the Hybrid Rat Diversity Panel, a panel of inbred rat strains with genetic and phenotypic diversity. Our genotyping services deliver timely, accurate data to support rodent research models. We offer clear results to help investigators confirm genetic backgrounds, validate models, and maintain breeding colonies.

Hybrid Rat Diversity Panel

The Hybrid Rat Diversity Panel (HRDP) is a genetic reference population designed to include classic inbred strains and two groups of recombinant inbred (RI) strains. Combining genetic diversity from classic inbred strains with the power and mapping resolution from the two RI panels, the HRDP enables robust investigation of complex traits, gene–environment interactions, and genotype–phenotype relationships across biomedical research domains. HRDP strains can be used by investigators in multiple ways: entire panel, subsets of the panel, or as individual strains.
