Overview of Services
The High Resolution Imaging Core (HRIC) at the Medical College of Wisconsin is an institutionally available research service unit managed on behalf of the Medical College by the Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy. The HRIC encompasses both Light and Electron Microscopy services and is located on the 4th floor of the Macc Fund building. The HRIC is open to all Medical College of Wisconsin faculty, staff, and students; investigators at affiliated institutions and other non-MCW investigators.
The HRIC Electron Microscopy Facility provides service, consultation for research and some training for projects requiring transmission electron microscopy. The Facility operates on a fee-for-service basis.
HRIC EM Services include:
- Complete tissue processing facilities
- Immunoelectron microscopy
- Negative staining
- Enzyme cytochemistry
- Ultrastructural Electron Tomography
The HRIC Light Microscopy Facility relies primarily on a teach and train model offering consultation, training and guided use sessions for the microscopes located within the core.

- Consultations
- Microscope demo sessions
- Full training sessions to become independent users
- Guided use sessions
